First Look vs. Keeping it Tradional – Photos by Keshia

First Look vs. Keeping it Tradional – Photos by Keshia

Let me start off by saying…

Whether you choose a first look, or your groom seeing you for the first time as you walk down the aisle, each is their own and it will be special because it is your

wedding day!

So with that being said if you are recently engaged choosing whether to do a

First Look vs. Keeping it Tradional

(AKA He sees you as you come down the aisle)

is something you will have to think about! Some couple’s know their decision right away and some debate it. Some think they know, however once pondered they realize what is best for them!

If you ask any photographer, most will respond with FIRST LOOK! I of corse agree it is great, however if that isn’t your style I can accommodate any time line to make it work! With that being said if you choose “Keep it Traditional” here are some pros and cons!

PROS:

Tradition: He sees you for the first time traditionally as you come down the aisle

Venues: Some venues won’t allow a large chunk of time before the ceremony, making your time line flow better

Groom Reaction: He may cry, he may not…

CONS:

Time Line: Forces you to have take pictures after the ceremony. Keep in mind needing 30 min. to an hour for bridal party, family (depends on the size & venue), and couples shots is normal!

Groom Reaction: He may cry, he may not…Let me be truthful if you want tears and sweetness from your groom..? I personally have seen grooms be more real with their brides in a private first look. When you think about it, it makes since! He isn’t standing in front of 100-250 people scared!

Lighting: This all depends on your venue, when your ceremony is starting and the sun of corse! However in my experience once the ceremony is done, typically so is the awesome light! I consult with all my couples to find the best lighting!

Now that we have pros and cons of “Keeping it Traditional” lets step aside and debate the “First Look”!

PROS:

Groom Reaction: He may cry, he may not! Either way you get YOU TWO TIME! Yes I mean you can cry, kiss, talk, whatever YOU want! When you walk down an aisle to the alter you can’t stop and have a small convo while 200 people stare at you!

Lighting: Yes I said lighting again! Plan your wedding with great lighting. Having a first look sometimes helps with having great lit portraits

Time Line: After Ceremony shots are shorter…. making it where you can go party quicker!

Calmer: Most couples who do a first look seem calmer and enjoy their day because the butterflies have been released and they know they are about to marry their best friend!

CONS:

Timing: If you are wanting to follow a first look with couples and bridal party shots you must schedule that in. Meaning having hours before the ceremony schedule is required!

Keeping it Traditional: You are breaking a tradition..but who says it’s your tradition you want to follow??

Again, like I said at the beginning which ever you and your partner choose it will be special because it is your wedding day! This is just some helpful hints to consider! Take a look at what some couples did on their big day below! Leave comments if you made the blog and your feelingso n first look vs. keeping it tradtional!
